Is Win XP PROFESSIONAL a 32 BIT or is it a 64 BIT ?

Hello,

How can I find out, where does it show, if my XP PRO is a 32 or a 64 BIT ?
The reason I ask, is that I need to update my NVIDIA drivers and I need to
select if my XP is a 32 bit or 64.

Thanks in advance

Right-click on "My Computer"

Under the "General" tab

You will see:

System:

Microsoft Windows XP

If you have x64 it will then show on the next line:

"Professional x64 Edition"

Then

"Version 2003"

As you are using Microsoft outlook version: 6.00.2900.2869

I would guess you are using Windows XP 32 bit.

Take care,

John.

Click Start > Run, type in "Winver" and press <Enter>. If the
resulting dialog box does not _explicitly_ state that you have "Windows
XP 64-Bit Edition" or "Windows XP Professional x64 Edition," then you
have a 32-bit OS.

Check your credit card statement. If you bought a 64bit computer then
it's in red.

Do you have a 32 or 64 bit in XP? Exe or VBS
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 258 - Right hand side.

Manual:

Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: cd c:\ <enter>, systeminfo. System Type
will probably read: X86

Or go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Environment. In the right pane: Processor_Architecture should
read: x86 for 32 bit.

XP Pro comes in 32 bit and 64 bit, but unless you can afford an Itanium
processor in your system, you have the 32 bit version.

Very generally speaking, if you have to ask, it's 32-bit.

I don't have an Itanium processor, but I do have 64bit Windows XP.

(I have a Pentium D940). A lot of people have AMD 64bit processors too.

Just to add more: 64 bit is more faster and gives high perfomance.
Quite right. Provided you can find drivers for all your hardware.

I have a dual boot system because Hauppauge are unable to deliver 64bit
drivers for their hybrid cards, even though these were released after
windows XP x64 was released. All of the rest of my computer's hardware does
have 64 bit drivers. I do have one or two programs that don't run, but these
are not 'mainstream' programs. I have found that 64 bit makes a big
difference to load and run times for even 32bit programs. I have a dual core
processor, but this does not have a big impact on performance (unless I'm
running two programs at once, when there is an enhancement). XP 64, however
does make a noticeable difference.
