Is there a way to pair and lock columns together?

For instance I want to sort a sheet with A, B, C, D, E, F columns and
I want to sort row vise. However A and B are dependent, C and D are
dependent, and also E and F are dependent. That is I want to sort in
blocks of AB, CD, and EF in terms of the value in A, C, and E.

So in other words I want to sort A, C, E but I want B to follow A, D
follow C and so forth.

Certainly. Just highlight columns A and B before you sort. Do the same with
C/D and E/F
