I contacted comcast and they said that the recipient issue is within Outlook,
and that they have no limit. I am trying to send to a distribution list, and
get the message each time (452 too many recipients, send more in a second
session). Any suggestions?

Assuming that Comcast is running your SMTP mail server, they aren't being
entirely honest.

That error isn't something Outlook produces, it is produced by the SMTP
server that your client is trying to send mail through.

Now, it might be true that they don't limit the number of recipients, but
they are the ones producing the error message.

Heck, try this. Set up OE with the same settings, expand out the DL in
Outlook, and try to send to it using OE.

Now, if your SMTP server isn't comcast.com (or .net), then it isn't Comcast,
but whoever runs your SMTP server.

Boy, did you get your story mixed up. It's the other way around.
Comcast is the one that is using a spam quota of maximum recipients
per message. I don't recall that they have ever hidden doing that
(but they are reluctant to reveal just what are the numbers they use
for each of their anti-spam quotas).

If you are going to spam or send bulk mails, use a bulk mailing
program that has the option to specify the maximum recipients for each
copy of the same e-mail that gets sent out (i.e., it splits up the
recipient list). Outlook is an personal e-mail client, not a bulk
mail program. You could try using Word's MailMerge with Outlook but
I'll bet you'll then hit Comcast's maximum mail sessions per minute
anti-spam quota.

How many addresses are in the distribution list?
The "too many recipients" issue, may not only be caused by the number of
recipients.
1. May be caused by the # of recipients multiplied by the size of the
message. Remember the process of sending the message adds approx 30% to the
original size of the message.
2. In Outlook you may need to increase the timeout setting for the Comcast
acct.

So if your message is 100kb and your are sending it to 100 people:
100kb X 100 (people)=10 MB + 30% transmission increase in size=13 MB is what
you are sending out through their servers.

If you are using a residential acct, Comcast may be limited the amount that
can go through their outgoing server, at one time.
1. So you may need to either break up the distribution into smaller ones.
2. Send the message out in Plain Text, with image files compressed to
smaller sizes.
3. Place the image files on the internet, and reference their location in
the message using Plain Text.
4. Use Mail Merge to send the messages out, but you will need to list the
email address in some data source document like excel, or create another
contact folder and list the email addresses as separate contacts.
