Is there a way to auto update format from old PPT to New?

I am currently working on rebranding our PowerPoint Templates.

I've been tasked with finding a way for field people to take their old
presentations iin our old brand and easily insert those pages into the new
template. Easy enough.

The catch, they want those inserted slides to as easily as possible, pick-up
not ony the new background, but also acquire all the text formatting and text
block placement

Any input would be helpful

Thanks

This is actually how it works -- allowing for the Garbage In, Garbage Out
principle, of course.

If your users used placeholders for their text, then everything should pick
up the new text formatting and other settings when they paste a slide into a
file with the new template. If not, then no dice.

Sometimes if they've used placeholders but applied a lot of direct
formatting, they'll need to reapply the slide layout. If they reapply the
layout twice, though, and it doesn't pick up the new formatting, then it's
not gonna happen.

Unfortunately, that's what I thought the feedback was going to be. Tests I
ran last night backed up your comments.

I'm going to have to let my director handle this now since one of the field
people told about 500 people that "he assumes" that this auto format will
work and be tested by our group. Talk about opening up a can of worms

As usual, I appreciate the input. Thanks for responding to an urgent need
