Is there a Mozilla based browser with good tabs support

F

Fran

Iam looking for a tab support similar to may IE engine based browsers
(Avant, MyIE2...) where opening links is made only in new tabs, there are no
new windows by default?

The pape does not show properly in IE, but looks just fine in Firebird. A
bit malicious of the author, if you ask me :)

Yeah, with *insert non-freeware browser here*, it would either
crash, or the page's text would show momentarily and then disappear.
But then, pages not exactly rendering correctly or causing the browser
to crash isn't too unusual for *insert non-freeware browser here*.

I haven't had such problems with other pages in MyIE2, the one I currently
use. Besides, making a web-page that doesn't display properly on a browser
that is used by 90%+ internet users is simply bad web-mastering.

I just recently switched to Firebird and I love it. Ctrl-Click opens a
new tab; Shift-Click saves the contents of the link. Couldn't be happier.

It was intentional. Author is a plonker.

Mozilla or Firebird +
http://white.sakura.ne.jp/~piro/xul/_tabextensions.html.en

is probably the best tabbed browsing there is. It includes the
ability to set it so everything is done in one window.

Unfortunately for me, several important subscription sites I
rely on, many times daily, do a strict test for "IE5.5 or
later" or even IE6. These are good browsers but I get irritated
having to switch back and forth, then there's the issue of the
default browser, and so on. They have such a small share of the
market, most sites don't cut them any slack.

I wish there was a feature to allow a change in the client ID
and version. ((I might just make a copy of Mozilla and try and
zap the executable so it answers as IE 6 and see what happens.))

I personally don't care either way about Mozilla/Firebird (like I
said, I use *insert non-freeware browser here*), but have you tried a
program like Proxomitron or similar to change the User-Agent header?
It's not just for modifying the user-agent header,
though...personally, I can't imagine surfing without Proxomitron now.

http://uabar.mozdev.org/ or
http://chrispederick.myacen.com/work/firebird/useragentswitcher/ might
do the trick for you. If you haven't yet, you might also want to look
at http://texturizer.net/firebird/extensions/ which has a boatload of
extensions for Firebird, and http://www.mozdev.org which has a bunch
of extensions for Mozilla (and many which will also work in Firebird).

There is a Mozilla extension that lets you change the the Browser "ID"
on the fly. I don't rem, ember what it was caleld though. try searching
for it at www.mozdev.org. I used it to get into sites that would only
allow IE. Worked like a charm.

Al new Mozilla versions can do this, but the option to enable this
behaviour is hidden for some strange reasons. Yet, there is a package
that creates a new menu which lets you change this.

Pitily, I forgot to save the URL and name... (Something like
"tabextensions" I think...)

The Tabbed Browser Extension works on both Mozilla suite and Mozilla
Firebird and is comprehensive in its choices. I think that Mozilla
Firebird is a little more transparent with the use of tabs.
