Is there a CD available for SP3 (and or SP2)?

Recently upgrading to Win. XP Pro w/ SP 1 included in installation CD. SP 2
download fails (3-5 times now). I suspect it's cuz it takes too long for my
56K modem to download and it can't maintain a connection that long.

Things to do B 4 downloading SP 3 is to have SP 1a or SP 2 downloaded. Since
SP 2 download fails, SP1a says not to install it if I'm already rinning SP1,
which I am. {Op sys from "Properties shows Win. XP (Pro?) SP1.}

SP 3 says it contains all updates from SP2. Do I really need to be running
SP2 to download SP3? Or to simplify matters, since I assume that SP 3 will be
even larger than SP2 which is included in SP3, is there a CD out there that
will install SP2 & 3?

Thanks. I couldn't figure out why the "get CD" option wasn't lit up as a
link. It took me a while to figure out MS was asking "what language do you
want it in?" before they tell you they have CDs to order. Anyway, I id order
the CD.

So now to the second part of my Q... Do I really need to be rinning SP 1a or
2, since they are supposed to be "cumulative updates, or worry about alla the
stuff listed in "kayman"'s reply, OR when my SP3 update CD arrives can I just
throw in the CD and pray?

Stuck Again

I don't think you need any previous Service Packs installed as the
download info states that SP3 applies to all previous XP versions.
Just try it and see if it installs or says you need to install another SP.

In order to install Windows XP SP3 onto a working Windows XP system, you
must have already installed Windows XP SP1 or later. You can run the SP3
update package on any edition of Windows XP SP1 or SP2 (Excluding Embedded
versions and x64.)

The same is not true if you are integrating the service pack into the
installation media.

"To install SP3, your computer must meet the hardware and operating system
requirements listed below. In addition, your computer must at least be
running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed."
