Is the Beta 1 program still available?

Does anyone know if it is possible to re-install the Beta 1 version of the
microsoft anti-spyware program?

I installed WD beta 2 on 2 computers - and now sorry I did. Beta 1 was
working great for me - but I am having problems with beta 1.

It would be nice for microsoft to bring back the beta 1 program - at least
until the beta 2 version is working better.

This has been expanded, and should cover most of the problems posted here at

My guess is your request is contrary to Microsoft's plans.
They want Beta 2 tested so all the bugs can be worked out.
There is probably no reason for Microsoft to do any work on Beta 1 other
than possibly updated definitions.
Making Beta 1 easy to get may do nothing for Microsoft in its plan to finish
Windows Defender.

Since it is Beta, the goal is more of producing a final product rather than
supporting an old build that may contribute nothing to that goal.

I am having exactly the same problem. Just upgraded to Windows Defender and
it refuses to complete the necessary update (error 80240022). I have Windows
XP SP2. What can I do? our help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Best advice I can give in the time I have available is to 1) go to
WindowsUpdate and see if that takes care of it, and/or 2) search these
groups on that error number and see if you can find threads with solutions
that have worked for others seeing the same error.
