Is my operating system running XP x64 OS ??.

Having some problems with new software on a new CPU system.
CA, the company that created the Pest Control software, say it has not been
qualified to run on a 64-bit operating system, even though the sales people
at Tiger Direct recomended and sold me the software when they sold me the
computer. If a 32-bit version of XP works on a system using the 64-bit CPU,
then the software should work. I can't find anything more about the
operating system than this: (The folks who sold me the computer say it is
running a 32-bit OS, so the software SHOULD work.)

Can someone confirm if this is a 64-bit operating system I have on my
system?

My system information:
MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP
Home Edition, version 2002
Service Pack 2

HardwareP eMachine T6003
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+
1.79 GHz 384 MB ram
Physical Address Extension.

64-bit Windows is only available for Windows XP Professional Edition,
so you have a 32-bit version of XP.

Eric,

And just to add to Eric's good advice - you have a 64-bit processor
which means that you *could* run a 64-bit operating system on it.
However, your processor will happily run a 32-bit operating system also
and that is what you are doing.

No, that doesn't follow logically, at all. In fact, most 32-bit
anti-malware software will *not* work on a 64-bit OS, especially if it
relies upon some kind of driver file.

That's clearly a 32-bit OS. There is no 64-bit version of WinXP Home;
nor is there a Service Pack 2 for WinXPx64, as yet.

You have a 32 bit OS, 64 bit processor and 32 bit software. The 32 bit
software should work, and a program writen to ulilize the 64 bit processor
should work even better. What exactly is the software doing or not doing.
