Is my McAfee Virus Scan being blocked?

J

Jane

Ever since I installed Microsoft antispyware (beta), my
Mcafee virus scan online hasn't been able to complete
updates. I just spoke with a Mcafee technician, we
deleted the McAfee and tried to reinstall it, but it
wasn't able to download.
Any suggestions?

Hi Jane:

According to Bill(S), the NG moderator, there have been
approx. 7 million-by now- downloads and many must be
using McAfee like myself. I have had absolutely no
problems with MSAS and any other program. Maybe I'm just
lucky...

In this situation, your anti-virus is more important
right now, so uninstall the MSAS.

I would clean up the computer by downloading Ccleaner to
remove all the junk in the various temps. Also get
SpyBot S&D and LavaSoft's AdAware SE. All can be found
at www.majorgeeks.com and they are all free.

Unfortunately the MS NG Search function is currently not
working so I can't easily find other references to
McAfee, but I don't remember seeing this issue before
here.

Bill, plun or Ron C what else should she do right now?

I think MSAS is important, so maybe start with McAfee uninstall
and then reinstall.

Hi Jane,
I'll follow Bob's lead, and suggest you uninstall, or at least disable the
MWAS, while you reinstall McAfee. I'm thinking there is a collision going on
somewhere there.
