Is my computer ready?

Nyds

I am a novice movie maker user and would like to know if the equipment
suggested in the in the Using Windows XP MOvie maker article published August
8, 2006 is not outdated? 3 years have gone by since it was written and I want
to make sure that the products I purchase or upgrades I do will not be futile
because there is something better, faster or easier now out on the market.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can you provide a link (if it's onliine) or specific reference to the
article you're referring to?

Hey Mr. PapaJOhn, thanks...the article is right on the Microsoft's web site,
then Using windows xp then I clicked moviemaker and it brought me to the web
page including the informational page "what you need to make movies with
Windows XP and Movie Maker" that's the exact name of the title.
are the minidv tapes the way to go?

If you can get there, post the URL

If you can't do that, lotsa luck.

I suspect this is the article in question.

Somewhat outdated...don't you think...look
at those massive 256 mb memory cards.

A lot has happened since that article was published.

If you are going into the future still running Windows XP with Movie Maker
2.1.... not Vista or Windows 7, and not wanting HiDef video... then a
mini-DV camcorder and a firewire cable to connect it is still a good choice.

Thank you. Maybe I should read up on something a little more current. That's
why I wanted to toss out the questions to the forum. Thank you very much.
I'll do a little more research.

Will check things out more closely. I am leaning more towards something more
current and yes I need to upgrade to Windows 7. Is it out? I don't have it.
