Is it possible to use remote desktop on XP Home Edition

I've got a desktop PC (Dell) @ home operating XP Home Edition SP2.

I've just bought a laptop PC (Dell) that will also be operating XP Home
Edition SP2.

Will it be possible to connect from the laptop to my desktop PC using remote
desktop (or another such application)?

This is one of the main reasons I bought the laptop, so I could access my
home PC when away from home @ work.

Any input would be gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks,

David

No - your home PC would need to be running XP Pro (or Vista Business or
Ultimate) in order to host the Remote Desktop Server.

Your laptop is fine with XP Home.

Not if the PC you want to remotely access/control is running XP Home. XP
Home can not act as a Remote Desktop host.

I recommend using UltraVNC as an alternative with its encryption plug-in and
XP video driver. Get the host/server, client, encryption plug-in and video
driver from...

I use a second mail address to do just that, it works out fine for me.
I hope this works OK for you.
