Is it ok not to have Compress Old Files

Recently, I encountered a Disk Cleanup utility freeze [ hang ] problem
I follow Microsoft KB 812930, and use the Registry Editor to delete the folder of Compress Old Files
The procedure works and my Disk Cleanup is working again
However, I did not Export and Save the Compress Old Files to the desktop as suggested in KB 812248, which I realized only after performing the Delete of Compress Old Files folder

At the moment I do not detect anything not normal on my XP's other functions
Can some one tell me if my XP can still function normally without the Compress Old Files folder
If not, what need to be done

The computer is fine, there will be no problems because it is gone.
I did not save it on either of my computers.
