Is it a bug in windows vista 64 that 2gb sd cards don't work

Is this a bug or is it just my machine?
I am using a emachines laptop M6805 with athlon 64 3000
It has a built in card reader. When I insert my Corsair 133x 2GB SD card it
says you need to format the disk in drive G: before you can use it.
When I plug in an external memory card reader it says the same thing.
when I pluy in the external mermory card reader into an windows 2000 or xp
machine the SD card reads fine.
Any suggestions? Is this a bug in Vista? I have searched but found nothing.
Thank you very much

It may be a hardware limitation on your laptop. I can see my 2 GB sd card
just fine on Vista. My laptop running XP has problems using larger than 1 GB
memory cards when I use the pcmcia memory card adaptor. However when I use a
USB memory card reader, it has no problem with the 2 GB sd card. I tried the
2 GB sd card in a friends laptop with a sd card slot built into it and
running Windows XP, and it said the card needed formatting yet I could read
it a few seconds later in my pocket pc device no problem.

After posting a reply I now see that you are using a 64 bit version, my
version of Vista is the 32 bit that I have no problems with, and my laptop
can't install Vista at all, not enough ram.

I guess I forgot to mention that the card and card reader worked fine
reading 2gb on this same laptop running xp pro before I wiped and installed
vista. I wish I could find some drivers that would fix the problem but I
doubt it since even the external card reader won't work so I figure it is a
bug in vista 64
