Is IE7b worth?

C

Craig

I am still using IE6. I understand that Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 was out
there.
I am wondering whether I should try IE7 or not.
Could someone advise me whether it is worth updating to IE7 or not.
TIA. Craig Johnson

So, do you have a test host or using a VM (like Virtual PC or VMware)
to risk screwing up its setup? If you only have one home computer and
you actually need it, make sure you save a drive image beforehand.
After all, even you recognize that you are asking about BETAware!

No. I don't.
IE7 sounds like a pretty much advanced browser. That's why I am tempted to
try it but I thought that I had better ask whether it is worth for ordinary
Internet surfer. Craig

If you want to risk a beta product on your production machine, it's your
choice. You may wish to visit the IE beta newsgroup to see the issues
people are having.

Be prepared to reformat your machine.

If you want an advanced browser right now, use Firefox. You can
evaluate and perhaps switch to IE7 when it is officially released.

I started using FF and several extensions. I wouldn't go back to IE for all
the tea in China.

I mainly use IE6 but I once in a while use FF. BTW, where can I get
extensions.

One feature missing in FF is creating pdf files. With IE6, Adobe pdf icon
is sitting in a toolbar.
Making a pdf file takes just a few seconds. I love this feature. It seems
that there is no extension for Adobe PDF with FF. Please give me a like if
there is one. Thanks. Craig

Hello Craig
In addition to info already given, I would not use any beta product on my
one and only computer.
I am certain I have read in groups and the one specifically for IE7, that if
it is installed and you don't like/want it, you could encounter devilish
problems going back to IE6.
But I have not bothered to read anything about it for months now.
Others may be able to confirm this or not.
Research is the key prior to any decision.
