Is a Radeon 7000 card OK for an *OLD* computer

I am thinking about upgrading the graphic card on the oldest computer in
the house which is so old that the card sits in a PCI-slot. The cheapest
PCI-card I could find is a Radeon 7000 based card. Am I right if I
assume that there is probably no sense in getting a better card?

If its like P1 or P2 generation, a 7000 wouldn't hurt, if you can find one
for cheap. Dun expect to play any new games on it tho. CS or StarCraft would
do just fine with it.
