IRQL_NOT_EQUAL

I need more info. My system has been working correctly with XP Pro for @ 2
year. I just started to receive the IRQL_NOT_EQUAL stop error on XP
boot-up. Looking on the Internet, I have come to the concultion that I may
memory problems. I am now considering to replace the DDR RAM modules. I
current have 2x256MB DDR 266Mhz modules and I would also be considering to
change to larger capacity modules. I now have several questions:

1) Can I change to 333Mhz or 400Mhz modules eventhough I can not run the
modules at that speed?

2) Will XP Pro require me the re-activate??
a) If I stay at total of 512MB?
b) Bump upto 1GB?

Using two RAM modules often causes trouble. Try re-seating modules.
Experiment with memory timings/settings in BIOS. See if new BIOS or chipset
drivers are available from motherboard manufacturer. Run;
http://Memtest86.com to test present system to ensure it is not
software/driver issue.

Yes.

No.

To try to work around this issue: If Easy CD Creator is still installed,
uninstall it, or uninstall only the DirectCD component.

Rename the Udfreadr.sys and Cdudf.sys files that are located in the
%Systemroot%\System32\Drivers folder to Udfreadr.old and Cdudf.old. File
properties: Udfreadr.sys, 23-Oct-01, 5.0.2.155 Cdudf.sys, 11-Jan-01,
5.0.2.155. NOTE : These files may have already been removed by the
uninstaller program for Easy CD Creator.

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and Delete the following registry keys and then
Rebooot:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UdfReadr
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cdudf "

Well, I did more tests! I found that my NIC failed after a couple of
reboots. I replaced it, reseated my other card and upped the RAM. All seem
to be ok!
