IP Routing

Hi All

Got a SBS2000 system and wondered if I need to setup IP routing? Not really
sure what it does but I noticed today that the server has IP Routing Enabled
but none of the clients are.

If clients need enabled how do you do it ? I have checked online help and
can't see any information.

What do you mean? How many nics in the server? Have you run the ICW-wizard
from the SBS-console?
What OS on the clients?

Hi Marina

I have a SBS2000 server with Win2000 Prof clients. The SBS2000 has one NIC
and a USB broadband connection. I used the ICW to setup the server for
always on connection. When I checked all the PCs and Server I used IPCONFIG
/ALL to check that everything was setup and noticed the IP Routing was
enabled on the server and not the Clients. Just wondered is that normal?
What IP routing does? and should I be bothered by it?

Cheers

Hi Paul,

I really advise you to get rid of that USB-modem and stick in a second nic
with a router. Much save too.

IP-routing is never turned on on clients. When the server has 2 nics it is.

Have a look at www.smallbizserver.net to check your setup and also the
microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000 newsgroup is especially for SBS.
