IP address: how to find IP address for a device on my network

Z Man

I am trying to configure a hard drive module that has an IP address. I
hooked my computer up to this device through a hub (there is nothing else on
this 'network') and found that I am connected at 100mb/sec. In order to
access this hard drive module, I need its IP address. I tried the default
address for this device but it didn't work, so it must have been changed
before I bought it. Query: how can I find out the IP address of this device
so that I can access its internal configuration utility?

Some routers have a reset that sets the IP back to the original. Check the
drive for a reset button. Or you can try 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

You did not "read" the post. There is NO ROUTER.

Z Man: You will need an IP sniffer utility that will "scan" your entire
network and will list out the used IP addresses it finds.

Have you not consulted with the hard drive module
manufacturer???

Get this:

It's free.

I did read the post. I realize that there is no router. I'm just assuming
that there is a reset on the drive.

Although, yes, he should check the documentation to learn how to reset it.

Just what I was looking for, and the price is right. I will find a lot of
use for this utility. Thanks!

You're most welcome. Yes, it is a great tool. I use it frequently.
