I cannot open up a number of webpages--I get the above
message INVALID SYNTAX ERROR.

I also get this error!

As well as within browser, also when using search. Windows update shows
blank page with script errors.

Seems a lot of people who have got XP SP2 are getting this. Not many
answers though. Thank God for Mozilla!

Windows Update Fails:
Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.
