short long story: trojan, cleaned, tried to reinstall xp
pro, "product id(key) not valid". called "free" tech
support. generated 2 "new" keys--still get "product id not
valid"

now they want me to call the pay support.

disk is in great shape! it is mine and only used once! by
me!

whats up with this and is there a solution?

If the CD is legit, it sounds as though you are mistyping the product key,
many letters and numbers appear quite similar in the key, 6 and g, o and 0,
etc. and that is the most common reason besides a CD that is not legit for
this type of issue to appear. Are you sure you are typing the product key
and not some registration number. DON'T TYPE IT HERE, that's simply advice
and nor a request for that information.

--i wish it were this simple....verified all product keys
and re-entered multiple times...thanks anyway

If MS tech gave you 2 new product keys and they did not work, then I would
think you have bad media(cd).
