Invalid MCI Device ID

A

A Hill

Hello all. I am having problem playing audio CDs on my
windows XP system. I have done the trouble shooter a
dozen times or so, reinstalled all my drivers bunches of
times, and even installed an old cd-rom that used to play
CDs. I also checked the Knowledge Base but was unable to
find anything that spoke to the error message I'm getting:

INVALID MCI DEVICE ID.

I have a soundblaster Live, and updated the drivers but
then all my sound quit (system sounds stopped), so I
rolled back to previous driver.

Any ideas about what I may be missing here? I can't seem
to figure out if my MCI device driver is bad or what (I
have removed it once, still did not work).

Thanks in advance for any help.
