Invalid boot.ini & system lock up

When I boot my PC, I get the message "Invalid boot.ini -
booting from C:\windows". I tried to access the boot.ini
file through control panel, but I'm told the file cannot
be found. Also, I gettin a lot of PC lock ups using
various apps, and the game "medal of honor" locks up
everytime.

So, do I create a new boot.ini file? Can I do it without
screwing something else up? Could the missing .ini file
have anything to do with my lock up problems?

The fact that you are still getting into your computer is a
good sign, so it eventually starts up. I would check for
viruses, and there are lots of programs that you could buy
that try to repair windows (norton systemworks, etc). If
all else fails, search for help on Google. I all else
fails after that, do a repair install of windows.

Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP CD and, instead
of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any password
requested is blank, and TAB over.

Use
Attrib -H -R -S C:\boot,ini
DEL C:\boot.ini
to delete the bad one - if it is in fact there, then
BootCfg /Rebuild

to search for Windows installations and make a new one
