Internet very slow

Recently my web surfing has become very slow -- like 35 - 45 seconds before
any page will come up. I expect a TCP/IP issue. It is on a DSL line. I
have contacted AT&T and there does not seem to be a line problem. I am
running XP Media Center SP2. The machine is about 2 years old and runs
pretty well otherwise.

Not sure where to start.

Adding to Leo:
Can you tell us these As fo these Qs please:
- How much disk space you got
- How much RAM you have installed
- What anti-virus you installed and anti-malware and did you run a thorough
scan for both
- IE version and any updates installed recently, you can check this by doing
this command:
open run then type in:
msinfo32 then Hit Enter or click [OK]

You need to define the problem first.

Is this just Web surfing or is it your connection speed? Try the speed
test here:

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

I also have DSL. My speeds were:

Download: 689 kbps
Upload: 179 kbps

What are your speeds? (For now, the download speed is what we are
concerned with.)

Assuming your download speed is acceptable, let's look at Web surfing
again.

What browser do you use? Have you tried its "no add-ons mode"? Have you
tried other browsers? Do you regularly perform maintenance such as
clearing browser cache?
