Internet sharing problems; XP and Mac OS X

Guest

Just got a used Powerbook Mac OS X with a 3rd-party wireless network card. I
have a desktop running Windows XP Home Edition that shares its internet
connection with the other PCs on the network. I can get the Mac to ping the
router and the host computer, (and even to share files), but the Mac can't
access the Internet or ping public internet sites (e.g. yahoo.com or
google.com). Any advice?

Check the TCP/IP configuration on the Mac. It should show:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.1 or your ISP's DNS server
