internet printing with a dynamic IP? can it be done?

I have read plenty about Internet printing. all docs say using the URL
//printservername/printers
can an IP address be used instead, //62.124.101.65/printers (example)

Want to print from my XP pro at home to a shared printer in a small office,
printer is shared and connected to an XP pro machine via USB cable.

If this is possible, do I need the printer connected via Nic to the router?

what if any ports need to be opened on the router or should I use IP
passthrough on router?

any help will be greatly
appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
