Internet is abnormally slow when shared by more computers.

Ok. I have my computer, my sister's laptop, and my mom's computer. We have CABLE. We share the connection through a switch or something (each of our computers pluggs into a switch). Well, every time i use the internet, it takes about 10 seconds just to load a page. And i KNOW that it shouldn't go that slow even if the internet is shared. If i take my cable and plug it DIRECTlY into the modem box however, it goes incrediblally fast. And then i have NO problems. So please tell me if i can make it go faster for my computer when it is shared. Its really frusterating.
 
When you have Cable, it's not just you getting the
connection and sharing it with your family, its the WHOLE
neighborhood that shares a cable line so when everyone
uses it at the same time it might be slowing you down.
