Internet Hijacked

Hello,

Everytime I open up my Internet explorer I get pop ups, I
usually just run something like AD Aware and clear them
off but this time it is not helping. A tech on site told
me that my Internet has probably been Hijacked. I found a
couple articles related to Hijack in which I go into the
registry and delete the Control panel folder under the
internet section in the registry however this didnt help.

What are my options to fix a Hijacked internet machine and
how can I make sure that it doesnt happen again. Any
suggestion is appreciated.Have a great weekend

It's not "Internet has been hijacked". There's no such thing. It's your
browser and/or home page has been hijacked. Not sure what "reg tweak" you
saw but you do not delete control panel entires in the registry. If you did
you may have caused alot more damage than some spyware. To remove the
spyware/adware/hijackers:
You've got spyware, adware, a trojan, a search engine hijacker, or a home
page hijacker.

Run these tools weekly
Spybot -- http://www.safer-networking.org/
Ad-aware -- http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

CWShredder: http://209.133.47.200/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe
HiJackThis - http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

hasnt worked but perhaps one of the others will.

Hi Zod, the same happened to me and since then I've also
added:

Browser Hijack Blaster
BHOdemon
Aluria spyware eliminator
Spycop
spyware blaster

I found these at:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

It seems each of these programs find different things the
others miss, so I run each one. And I haven't had any
problems with browser hijackers since. Good luck. Silver

as well as the one's mentioned in the Phil's post

You should also make sure you check for updates each time you run any of
those utilities.
