If youve checked with your ISP and everything seems fine
try the following:

-Delete temp files (go to start, run and type: %temp%
then delete everything that comes up)

-Update your antivirus software and run a scan (you can
run a scan at housecall.antivirus.com as well for free)

-Install (or update) Ad-Aware from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com then run a default scan on
your computer. This will check your computer for spyware
that can cause the types of things your seeing.

-After doing all this if you still have the same problem
try pinging someone (for instance www.yahoo.com)by domain
name and by IP address. If you can ping someone by IP
address or domain name you know you are still connected
online and theres either something wrong with your
browser or there is a program keeping you from browsing
sites. If you can ONLY ping by IP address then there is
something wrong with the DNS settings on your computer
(usually DNS should either be automatic or disabled
unless your ISP tells you different).

To ping go to start, run, and type: cmd (for win xp and
2000) or command (for win 98 and me). At the command
prompt type: ping www.yahoo.com and then hit enter. If
you get 4 replies from yahoo you know you are connected
to the internet. If it says unknown host or request timed
out you need to try pinging by IP address. If you still
cannot ping by IP address you are NOT connected to the
internet, something is either not functioning properly or
blocking the connection. Make sure not firewalls are
installed.
