Internet Explorer - won't connect to DSL

I was using my laptop with my DSL connection and Internet Explorer was
working fine, then the next time IE wouldn't work, IE will work on other
DSL connections and with my dialup connection.

It must not be picking up the IP address or something.

Any suggestions?

thanks

How are you connecting to DSL? Through a router? Or directly
to a DSL modem? Does your router or modem act as a DHCP sever?
(A DHCP server provides IP addresses to computers on request.)

Yes, that's my idea too.
Any suggestions?

Yes. Bring up a command prompt (Start/Run/cmd<enter>), then
type "ipconfig /all" and hit enter. That should tell you
your ip address, gateway address, DHCP address, etc.

I had a problem like that a few days ago. Turned out, my
router somehow got reset to factory defaults, and was trying
to act as a DHCP server on 192.168.0.1 ; whereas my computer
was set to always use 192.168.37.82, with default gateway
set to 192.168.37.17. Bad mismatch! Once I got the router
back to the correct settings, everything worked once again.

I connect to the DSL Modem thru a router, I have my house prewired with
CAT5 cable and I should be able to just plug in any computer and get on IE.

I did the ipconfig /all and here was a couple of items.

IP routing enabled: no
WINS proxy enabled: no

Any suggestions?

thanks
