Internet Explorer won't browse although network is correct

Have one wkstn that cannot browse to internet. It is W2K
Pro, IE 6.0, Sp1 128 bit. WILL NOT BROWSE to internet!!

All TCP/IP is correct (including gateway, yes!!!) and can
ping yahoo.com for example but not through browser to any
website.

Have reinstalled windows, reapplied SP4 but all to no
avail.

Is there a fix, or, is there a way to completely uninstall
IE 6 and then I could use a CD to install IE 5.5, then
connect to internet, then bring it back to IE 6.0.

Any ideas!
