>>Internet Explorer v6.0 Crashing

L

LJ1

When I open Internet Explorer (via any method) I am
recieving an IE error message stating;

"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and need to
close."

The options provided are,
1.) Close,
or,
2.) Debug

Clicking "Close" presents a 2nd error message stating;

"An error has occurred in Internet Explorer. Internet
Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience
problems please restart your computer"

While clicking "Debug" does nothing what-so-ever.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled IE via Control Panel's
add/remove windows components and of course have restarted
my system many times.

While I can't open IE to properly verify the Version No. I
can assure it is version 6xxxx or, the most current.

My system configuration (or that which is helpful)is:
Dell Dimension 4550
P4 2.0 ghz
512 mb ram
Windows XP Pro SP1

This problem began approx. 1 month after SP1 was installed
if that makes any difference??

If anyone could provide any help, suggestions, insight,
or, otherwise I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you in advance for your help.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
