Internet Explorer Stop Working

I have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.28 installed on WIndows XP Home Edition. The browser has worked previously and my MSN Browser and Email work so I know I have connectivity on the machine. I am connected using Road Runner Cable. THe IE Browser will open and in the bottom corner it says it is FINDING SITE: WWW.INCREDIFIND.COM In the address Window I have attempted to get to a common site like Yahoo. The Browser does not find the site and I can not stop the search. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but when I attempt to install the install program says I have a newer version running. Not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated.

In Windows XP, you have to perform a registry to reinstall IE.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
