Internet explorer not responding message every five minutes?

I've been to all the help & support articles and
walkthroughs and done everything they have recommended
and the problem has only gotten worse. I found one
article online but internet explorer stopped responding
while I was reading it. I'm about to start taking classes
on-line and this problem will be a major problem then.
Can someone please help me I'm totally frustrated?

Try tool bar cop to disable unwanted solicited toolbars, BHOs and other
nasty stuff which could be impeding smooth functioning of IE:
