Internet Explorer (no add-ons)

Somehow I have my Internet Explorer set up to have no add-ons. And I read
how that is done and how to undo it.

However, I cannot undo things so I am stuck.

The docs say to simply bring explorer down and back up and that should turn
the add-ons back on. That didn't work. And so I went into
Internet options>programs>manage add-ons, and made sure all the add-ons
were turned on. I rebooted and still I have no add-ons turned on.

Also the docs say to simply right click on the Internet Explorer Icon and
that will give one the opportunity to click on 'manage add-ons' but I can't
do
that as that selection is 'greyed' out.

Does anyone have any idea how I can turn the add-ons back on??

I am running XP home.

Hi,
First check Internet Options> Advanced> Enable third-party browser
extensions. It should be checked. If that didn't fix things go to the next
step.

Next, run regedit and search for the DWORD value "NoExtensionManagement" If
you find it either:
1. Create a System Restore point
2. Export the entire registry
3. Export the key containing that DWORD value

Then delete the "NoExtensionManagement" DWORD value.
If you need more detailed instructions, let me know. Be very careful when
editing the registry.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi Don, and others on the list..

Well I checked out the advanced internet Options and third-party browser
extensions is enabled.
I than did a search for the DWORD value "NoExtensionManagement" and no
luck. Regedit couldn't find anything close to that..

So I am right back where I started. I hate to go back to my original backup
as I will have to start over from start to set this computer up again..

Thanks again Don for your help.. it is appreciated..
