Internet Explorer FREEZES!

Whenever I load Internet Explorer, it freezes that is to say whenever I type
in an address or try to shut it down, it stops responding. I tried sending
the error report as it asks and what I get is that I have some problem with
Yahoo! Toolbar even though I have uninstalled it. I can access all the tabs
from the Menu Bar.

I tried re-intalling the Service Pack 2 and the new IE 7 beta but still
can't fix the problem.

I am running Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP2) on Microsoft Windows Media Centre
Edition (SP2) but currently I'm having to use another browser which I don't
like very much.

I am having the same problem. Purchased the system Wed from Dell (XP Media
and Explorer 6.0) and it has been happening since start up. Even so, I ran a
spyware scan and found nothing. Internet Explorer freezes about 10 times an
hour.

Screen freezes (requiring reboot) with IE are most commonly caused by video
drivers that need updating. Go to the web site of your video card
manufacturer and get the latest drivers for your card. As a work around,
try turning down your hardware acceleration, color depth, and/or screen
resolution. If these work, then new drivers are in order.

Other causes are scripting engines that need reinstalled or updated:

Or the Java VM: http://www.java.com

See this article for more information:

And, if you are using a McAfee anti-virus program, and it's set to scan all
files, try changing it to scan programs and documents only.
