Internet Explorer Error Message When Login to site

I am trying to login to a secure site and my company-established (and not
changable) login is 5 symbols. IE keeps prompting me for a login between 6
and 10 characters. Can I change the security setting, or is there a hotfix?

Are you getting a message that actually mentions six to ten characters or
are you counting dots? Recent Windows versions intentionally display the
wrong number of dots for security purposes. If it is displaying the wrong
number of dots in the password field, try just usingthat password anyway.

No Frank, the message is that IE won't let me use less than 6 or more than
10. It's not a rejection of the login so much as it's a popup that stops the
submission.
