Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

D

drybones

Running Win XP Media 2005 with SP2 with automatic updates.

Outlook Express is working just fine. Tried to send an e-mail to myself and
it works as does this newserver.

Tried several of my Favorite web sites and still get the, " Internet
Explorer cannot display the webpage " and when I utilize the
"Diagnose Connection Problems" the response is that, "Windows did not
detect any problems with your internet connection.

This just started this early morning after start up of the machine.

Have installed nothing new and did a System Restore just prior to writing
this Post.

Please advise.

thanks

Troubleshoot internet connection:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936211

Uninstall/Repair IE6:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293907

= Click Start >> Control Panel>>Network and Internet Connections >>
Double

On the IE properties windows you will see these Taps:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced.
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Click Connection Tab then click LAN settings Button andmake sure there
is
no
proxy setting check box is checked, uncheck all there.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing
Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
[ ] Disable script Debugging (internet Explorer) <= check this box
[ ] Disable Script Debugging (Other) <= check this box

Click [OK] to apply your changes and close the IE properties.

= Then Open a run command and type in these DLLs to re-register them:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
regsvr32 Initpki.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll

Do you see user Connection under Connections Tab set as Default
connection,
also does all three lights on the Modem are green Solid?.

Try Power Down the Modem for about 40 secs and also the Computer then
Power
ON the Modem and wait for it to Sync with ISP for the IP (30 to 40 secs)
then
Power the Computer ON, does it connect?.
There is a Reset Button on the Modem you can use it to reset your
Connection, are you able to ping any IP, example:
Open a run command and type i:
CMD.EXE click [OK]
on the Command Prompt type in:
C:\>ping www.microsoft.com Hit Enter on your keyboard, does it
transfer
the packets or failed?.
How old the Modem is?, did you uninstall the driver for it then
reinstall?.
HTH.

Try with Clean Boot and see if the Connection will work.
How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state

If the clean boot didn't help, my advice take the machine to your local
Repair shop to be checked.

Obviously unable to connect to internet to try your other suggestions.

Ran another Virus check with "Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security
14" with no virus's reported.

Ran Windows Disk Cleanup.

Defragmented all partitions with Diskeeper 10 Pro.

Still unable to get IE & to display any web pages.

Drybones

Hi drybones,

Check the Trend Micro Internet Security firewall rules and ensure you
do not have iexplorer.exe (Internet Explorer) blocked from accessing
the Internet

Many thanks for the heads~up William.

Do not understand why, but The "Direct Connection Profile" within Personal
Firewall has started Blocking I.E. 7.

Must have been a new Trend Micro PC update that caused it.

The "Wireless Network" selection seems to work okay and I do 'not' have a
security warning now in the taskbar.

Thanks again.

Hi drybones,

You're welcome and this article seems to appliy to your case. I would
talk to Trend Micro to resolve this issue when IE7 has been updated
through a security update.

Error message after you install a Windows Internet Explorer 7 update
from Windows Update or from Microsoft Update: "Webpage cannot be
displayed"
