Internet Connection wizard

Hello

Im using XP and a 56k internal modem which is installed
correctly according to the device manager.

My problem is that when I run the internet connection
wizard the "connect using a dial-up modem" radio button is
greyed out!

I have no idea why.

Please can anybody help?

Thanks

Is this XP Home or XP Pro?

Have you recently used System Restore or performed
a reinstall of XP or upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro?

Any of those scenarios could cause the symptom you
have described if the end result is that previously installed
Windows XP Service Pack 1 has been removed.

You can determine this by checking the present version
of XP in System Properties
(right click on My Computer icon and click on Properties)
(if you get an error about "winsta.dll" then that is a dead
give-away that this is SP1 removal is the issue)

If this is the case, then you have probably not only removed
XP SP1 but all XP critical updates.

The following article should restore your dial-up connection
or allow the completion of the New Connection Wizard.

It is abosolutely imperative that you either have a functioning
third-party Firewall program installed or enable the built in
XP Internet Connection Firewall BEFORE you connect to
the Internet again and then immediately get XP SP1 and all
XP critical updates installed again.
