internet connection sharing ip range no good

I recently upgraded my computer from win 98 SE to win XP
Pro. I receive broadband internet wirelessly through a
pci card adapter which means i cannot directly send the
internet connection into a router to share the broadband
internet with other computers. Therefore I must use
internet connection sharing to share the broadband
access. This was fine with windows 98. The broadband
connection is from a network using the ip range of
192.168.0.x ICS automatically assigns the server
computer to 192.168.0.1 creating a conflict with my
broadband connection. On windows 98 I simply could edit
a couple of registry keys that would make the ICS ip
address anything I wanted it to be. How can I do this
with windows xp??? The closest I have come was by
modifying the hosts and the hosts.ics files in
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc but when i went to enable
ICS, it still had the default ip of 192.168.0.1 I am
pretty sure I am just screwed, but if anyone knows of
some new discovery or some program that allows me to get
around this, please tell me. thanks

I'm sorry, but there's no supported way to change the IP range that
ICS uses in Windows XP.

You can enable ICS and then manually change the IP address of the host
computer's home network connection to another subnet, such as
192.168.1.x. That will disable its built-in DHCP allocator, and it
might cause other problems on the network. If you try it, I recommend
making a System Restore point first, so that you can undo the change
in case of trouble. You'll have to set the client computer's TCP/IP
properties manually.

An alternative is to use a third-party Internet sharing program, such
as Sygate, Wingate, WinProxy, or the free AnalogX Proxy. If you use
AnalogX, be sure to read the security section of the documentation for
information on how to secure the proxy once it's configured.
