Internet connection problems

I wonder if someone can help me. My partner was logged onto the internet last
night and it seemed that somebody hacked into her computer. Every folder on
her computer started to open up. Tonight she has logged in and computer is
very slow. Unable to find any pages on internet explorer, unable to log into
msn but can log into yahoo. Run Norton and does not seem to have a virus. All
definitions are up to date. Has anybody got any ideas please?

Thank you in advance

Click 'Start' then 'Run' then type 'msconfig' (without the ' ' ) then
click OK. Click the startup tab. Get rid of any strange programs listed
there by unchecking their associated boxes. If you don't know whether a
program is malicious, just Google it. BTW, you can uncheck everything
and your computer will still work.

Yes purchase McAfee Anti Spyware 2005 and Norton System works and then
run those scans. Do not rely on freeware spyware scans.
