Internet Connection Firewall HELP

AJ

I have a question about the Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall: Is
there a way to set up the firewall so that it can remain enabled
PERMANENTLY? I connect to the internet through a dial-up ISP, and I have to
enable the firewall each time I connect to the internet, because the
firewall gets disabled when I disconnect the internet connection. I fear
that I may forget to enable the firewall one of these days. So I want to
know if the ICF can remain enabled without me having to manually enable it
each time I connect to the internet. Please advise.

Yep, you're right. I will go ahead and look into getting a 3rd party
firewall. Thanks.

Hi

You may like to think about a 3rd party firewall. The XP firewall doesn't
monitor outgoing access to the Internet. A good free firewall is
ZoneAlarm - www.zonelabs.com

Hi AJ. It sounds like there is something wrong, because
I believe that the Win XP ICF should stay on permanently
if enabled. Maybe there are situations when the ICF gets
disabled, e.g. in certain networking scenarios. I am
sure that one of the helpful MVP's can advise you. I
don't use my Win XP ICF, but the one that is integrated
with PC-cillin antivirus software, but when I have used
the XP ICF, it has been enabled permanently. Best of
British luck,

Andrew Warren
