Internet and Windows Explorer does not open

Just recently, Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer do not open. Some how
both when cliked on tend to act as it is opening, then crash, reseting the
desk top. I have tried a whole bunch of work arounds, but if any attempt to
open either program via start menu, icon, or even a hyperlink, or the run
command it crashes and dies. This occurs in 2 of 3 users to include the
GUEST account that are logged on the computer. Even the "Administrator"
account fails. A virus/spam/ check was done, no findings. I use Norton
antivirus (up 2 date), with Black Ice firewall. A check of programs in my
firewall, do allow Iexpolorer and explorer.exe to execute, or executing, as
does the settings in Windows XP firewall setting.

Need any help you can provide here is my system.
Win XP/pro SP2
IE 6.0 SP2

all critical patches from Windows update seem to be loaded, Updates are set
automatically.

Hi,
You need to do a thorough check for malware (adware, spyware, parasites,
trojans, hijackers, etc.)

Start by downloading and running CWShredder, Ad-aware and Spybot. Check for
updates before running Ad-aware or Spybot.
See: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Also note the security tips and other important information on that page.

Additional information at:

If unsuccessful with those programs, you may have to post a HijackThis log
for analysis. Start at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=4075 Then go to
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Work through the preliminary cleaning
steps then post a HijackThis log to the forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30

Be patient. It's a busy forum.

HijackThis logs are also analyzed at these (and other) forums:

Hope this helps,
