internal web site access from proxy

GD

I have a 2k server with MS Proxy 2.0 installed that's
part of the domain. Workstations using the proxy can't
hit the internal web site. Without going thru the proxy
it works because the www record is there. If you put our
internal DNS server address on the inside card it works
but then you can't hit the internet. I tried putting an
entry in the host file of the proxy but didn't work.

Any help appreciated!

Can the internal DNS server resolve internet names?
I'm not all that familiar with MS proxy but the internal DNS server should
be able to resolve internet names. If the internal DNS cannot resolve
internet names the first thing I would check is to see if it has a root "."
Forward Lookup Zone and delete it if it does.

Hope This Helps

Where is the internal website? On the Proxy server or somewhere internal? In
your client's IE Tools/options, where you specified the Proxy address,
there;s a checkbox below it to bypass Proxy for local addresses, provided
your users are getting to the internal site by your internal domain name of
www.domain.com. That site is considered internal and the browser will not
send that request to the Proxy.

Actually, Proxy is very similar, if not the same, as what you have running
Kevin. In some instances, the Root is actually desired in a Proxy scenario,
since all resolution will be done via the Proxy server, provided all that is
running is the web caching service on Proxy.
