Intermittent truncating of folder names in Outlook 2003

My daughter is using Outlook 2003, SP2 on her Windows XP computer.
She has an intermittent problem with the display of the mail folders
on the left side of the screen. From time to time, the names of the
folders become truncated. If she closes Outlook and then re-opens it
the problem is solved for the moment.

Anybody have any idea of the cause and cure?

Can be caused by Windows display settings.

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your response.

I am not sure which Windows display settings you mean.

Are you talking about the screen resolution settings, or in the
"Advanced" settings that are shown by pressing the button with that
label in the Display Properties dialog and produce a number of tabs
relating to the specific monitor, display card, etc." I would not
begin to know which of them I would dicker with.

When I press the "Troubleshoot" button in the Display Properties
dialog, the Video Display Troubleshooter that appears does not seem to
present any of the issues that might be implicated in the problem with
the Outlook folders display.

I would appreciate your guidance.

I'd try the Font size setting on the Appearance tab. Try changing the
"Windows and buttons" theme, then changing it back again.
