Intermittent Connection

Dear Folks,

I'm running WIndows XP SP1 and IE 6.x.

For the last few weeks, I've had intermittent periods where I can't connect
with my browser. Interesting enough, at the same time that the browser
gives me the "can't find the address, etc" error message, my Outlook program
stays connected.

I'm a bit puzzled about the whole thing. I've replaced my cable without
any luck. I've also been able to duplicate the issue on another network
terminal, so I'm assuming it's a software issue on my notebook.

Any ideas out there on why my Outlook can stay connected but my browser
can't?

This is possibly being caused by third-party programs (adware, spyware,
parasite, malware)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at

Did you ever find a solution that worked to your problem? I have seen so
many other people with this problem on this newsgroup (it seems to be by FAR
the most commonly reported issue on this newsgroup) but as yet I havent seen
anyone say it fixed there problem. My suspicion is that most people are
giving up and reinstallking their entire operating system as the only option.

Do let me know. I want to raise the profile of this issue, as I dont believe
Microsoft are proving a proper resoltuion for all the damaged IE6 users
damaged by the numerous vuilnerablilities that they've at least admitted to .
