intermittant problem. The remote computer is not available

I have a windows 2000 computer on our network (windows 2000 server). This
machine is running time management software so all our managers need access
to it. Recently all users bar those with administrator privalages started to
get \\computername\folder is not accessible. The remote computer is not
available. The strange this is after a while you can access the computer.
During the times you cannot access it, if you type
\\ Machines IP address, you can access it.

At this staged I think I have tried changing just about everything possible.
NIC card, Cable, IP address, Computer name, rejoining it to the network,
rebuilding the machine, changing the machine completly, enabling netbios.

So now I am hoping that someone can help me before I get the sldege hammer
out. Thanks in advance,

Just in case someone is going through the fourm and is wondering about this
problem. It turned out on the DNS console on the 2000 server under the
forward lookup zone, there was a record of a machine with the exact same
name. I deleted the duplicate, and everything worked fine.
