Interface no registered Error Code 0x80040155

Hello All,

I wanted to simply add a Clip Art to my presentation, but
as soon as I hit the 'Go' button in the Clip Art panel of
my PowerPoint 2003 installation, I receive the error
message:

Interface not registered
Error Code 0x80040155

I get the same error message as soon as I open the
Microsoft Clip Organizer.

I tried quiet a few things already: I ran a manual
registration of all the .dll files in my C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32
\WBEM directory, that did not help.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall the PowerPoint as well
as the Clip Art portion of mu Office 2003 Professional
installation, that did not help either.

In some other posts I read about problems that might occur
if Visual Studio 2003 .Net is installed on the same
machine, which is.

Any idea of how to get the Clip Art portion of my
PowerPoint 2003 install going?

Thank you for all of your help!
Wolfgang

I can't find much on this error. Just

http://support.microsoft.com/search...e=PHRASE&maxResults=150&Titles=false&numDays=

Sounds as if you already searched and found the info included there, though, because one of the articles listed is http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318956, and that suggests reregistering the DLLs (which you've already done).

I see a couple of posts about this, too, on the first page of a google groups search. Unfortunately, none of those posts seem to have received responses, so it seems that nobody really knows what's up with this. http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...egistered+0x80040155+group:microsoft.public.*

Oh, wait. Here's one to try. Even though the system/version info may not be the same, there's a link to where to go to update your MDAC. That's worth a shot. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q302375&

I suspect this one will take a call to MS Product Support. You might want to try posting in the design.gallery newsgroup, though -- that is the ng which deals more with clip gallery and clip organizer, and MS people do pop in there occasionally if nobody else has any ideas for you.

If you do manage to get this resolved, I'd love to know so I can add it to the DGL info on my website, since this fix seems difficult to find out about.

Echo,

Thanks to your post I got encouraged to check out all the
other related KB articles and the article #835457 worked
out great. After re-registering the OLE32.DLL everything
started working. Thanks for the hint on the first link you
sent!
