intel E4300 processor comes with poorly designed fan

The fan on the heatsink that comes with intel E4300 has no guard frame
around the fan blades. Any loose wire can easily jam the fan. I have to
visually inspect the fan before I dare power on the machine. What is intel
thinking?

Could someone point me to a better replacement fan that fits this heat sink?

most coolers for newer intels are like this. You SHOULD check for anything that can go
wrong before turning it on, and your wires should be routed and anchored properly. This
should be done for any cooler used. Your spending money for nothing.

Just been looking at this! A lot of coolers are a bit too big and flashy,
also need decent paste - and that means cleaning off the pre-applied gunk.
Came across this (and the review via the link to the right is v. good).
There's a 'better' version if you're o/c-ing.

That baloney from an Intel fanboy.

I'm sure many people appreciate the heads up.
No guard around the fan blades is cheap stuff.

That's something they do to reduce fan noise. There's a few similar
designs on the market. Bottom line it's cheaper so we'll probably
see a lot more of it. Best thing to do is not worry about it.
Invest in some cable tie wraps at radio shack and secure loose wires
away from the heatsink/fan area.
