Insufficient quota to complete the requested service

I do have "Insufficient quota to complete the requested service"
problem on my Win2k VMWare installation. The problem seems to be not
VMWARE specific!

My system has plenty of HD space, RAM and NO QUOTAS enabled.

Other users have posted the same problem related with Adobe, Scanners
etc.

To track this down, can someone tell where I can find some details
about what really went wrong. The message is too generic - I have no
clue what to search for. For me it looks like too many file handles
open or something like this.

Any ideas

it appears to not be related only to quotas, a search on google for that
error messages gets to:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...debug/base/system_error_codes__1300-1699_.asp
among others. it appears other things can also generate that error, one
sybase page talks about getting it when it runs out of file handles.

and this page: http://vincent.homeip.net/en/links/computers/ talks about
that same erorr with vmware.
