"Installs updates and then shuts down your computer"

My sleep button (?) now permanently says: "Installs updates and then shuts
down your computer".
When clicked an unspecified update of something then tries to instal &
presumably fails since it is still there next time. The computer then shuts
down totally instead of sleeping.
How do I clear this?

Instead of pressing the Sleep button, use the arrow to select Shutdown. See
if that works to install the update and shutoff the computer.
